Research Interests

Charles Bennett, M.D., Ph.D., is a hematologist and oncologist whose research focuses on preventing adverse drug events and improving drug safety. Along with his team at the Medication Safety and Efficacy Center, he is studying ways to make drug information more consumer-friendly and creating new training tools for healthcare providers.

Dr. Bennett has first-hand experience with commercializing technology and starting new companies. His work is well supported and has been awarded more than $4.2 million in federal research grants.

Dr. Bennett is currently affiliated with the Southern Network on Adverse Reactions (SONAR), which consists of co-investigators at fifty medical universities who have assisted with one or more evaluations of serious adverse drug reactions as part of two National Institutes of Health funded pharmacovigllance grants (1998 - 2010 and 2012 - current).
