Amelia Craver Special Lecture
Thanks to the leadership and generosity of Amelia Craver, Genetic Counseling Class of 1988, the UofSC Genetic Counseling Program has developed an Endowment to benefit the education of genetic counselors. In 2013, Amelia contributed $25,000 to match dollar-for-dollar donations received from alumni and friends of the Genetic Counseling Program and donations from local, statewide and national organizations. Her Challenge Grant stimulated over $75,000 in contributions and created the official Genetic Counseling Endowment. Today, the Endowment has reached over half a million dollars, a permanent investment into the future of genetic counseling. With this milestone reached, genetic counseling graduate students have benefited from the interest income that directly impacts their educational experience.
Amelia Craver, MS, CGC has continued to support Endowment development. As a tribute to her vision for the future, the Program sponsors the Amelia Craver Special Lecture in Genetic Counseling. Each year, our students, faculty and friends of the UofSC Genetic Counseling Program benefit from a special speaker to broaden our perspectives on genetic counseling.

Striving to Love What We Do and Who We Are: Lessons on Vitality and Inclusion for Genetic Counselors
MaryAnn Campion received an M.S. in Genetic Counseling from the University of South Carolina and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy from Boston University. She is the director of the Master’s Program in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling at Stanford University. She is passionate about DEI efforts, hard conversations and genetic counselor professional development. She is sustained by chocolate, sunsets and hope.
